中國現代藝術的先驅——關良(1900—1986年)字良公。生于廣東番禺,1917年赴日本學習油畫,1923年回國任上海美術專科學校教授,參加過北伐戰爭,任政治部藝術股長。30—40年代輾轉與廣州、上海、重慶等地的藝術院校任教,曾任浙江美術學院教授,上海中國畫院畫師。關良先生是中國現代畫壇上一位不可或缺的大師,他是最早將西方現代派的繪畫理念引入中國傳統的水墨畫之中。西方現代派中的印象派、立體派、野獸派以及德國表現主義的繪畫作品對關良影響很大。他在比較中西繪畫的異同之后,把西方現代繪畫和中國水墨戲曲人物結合到一起,開創中國戲曲人物畫新流派。關良的戲曲人物不拘泥于具體的情節及舞臺的服飾細節,而是抓住特定情景中的精神,以少勝多,形式上以拙求樸,率真稚趣。進入爐火純青的藝術世界。關良先生的寫意戲曲人物畫開一代之風。
楊群的水墨戲曲人物畫既有傳承又有獨創,他的傳承源于對畫戲大師關良畫風的敲骨吸髓,潛心學習。他的獨創源于自己個人深厚的民間藝術功底。從剪紙到木版年畫、從皮影到刺繡、從民間泥玩具到民間雕塑,在吸納民間藝術的同時,楊群又如饑似渴汲取西方現代派藝術大師畢加索、馬蒂斯以及新表現主義的繪畫語言。他的水墨戲劇人物畫造型夸張寫意,作品更著重于純視覺的繪畫性。他把中國現代水墨和中國民間傳統藝術融于一體。楊群的水墨戲劇人物畫散發著典型的東方藝術獨特魅力。

The pioneer of Chinese modern art — Liang Guan (1900—1986). Born in Panyu Guangdong, China, Liang Guan went to Japan to study oil painting in 1917. In 1923, he returned to China as a professor of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. Later on he joined in the Northern Expedition against the Beiyang government and became the Art Chief of Political Department. In the 1930s and 1940s, he taught in various art schools across China including those in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing. He was also a professor of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and a painter of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy.Mr. Liang Guan is an indispensable master of modern Chinese painting. He was the first person to introduce the concepts of western modernist painting into Chinese traditional ink paintings. Impressionist, Cubist, Fauvism and German Expressionist paintings have all had a great influence on Liang Guan. After comparing the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western paintings, he combined modern Western painting styles with traditional Chinese paintings to create a new genre of Chinese ink opera character paintings. Liang Guan’s paintings do not focus on story plots or costumes details, but capture the spirit of a scene. He uses simple and clumsy strokes, painting like a child. Mr. Liang Guan, the innovator of freehand style opera characters painting, has created paintings that have reached a perfect state.
Qun Yang’s ink opera paintings are both inherited and original. His inheritance stems from his painstaking study of master Guan Liang's painting style and his originality stems from his personal experience of studying and creating traditional folk art. From paper-cutting to woodblock New Year paintings, from shadow puppetry to embroidery, from traditional clay toys to traditional sculptures, while drawing from traditional Chinese folk art, Qun Yang is hungry for the artistic styles of modern Western art masters Picasso, Matisse and of the Neo-Expressionist movement. His ink opera figures are exaggerated and freehand, and the work focuses more on purely visual painting. He integrated Chinese modern ink painting with Chinese traditional folk art. Qun Yang’s ink-and-wash character paintings exude the unique charm of typical oriental art.

楊群的水墨戲劇人物畫有著新表現主義繪畫藝術的特征,造型自由隨性,充分展現了中國水墨畫和中國戲曲的寫意精神,作品有著東方藝術的獨特魅力和現代視覺審美。其作品被美國洛克菲勒家族,美國量子基金會、法國中西文化學會、法國尼姆現代美術館、法國尼姆大都會秘書長、新加坡政務部部長、澳大利亞布里斯班洲議員等重要機構和藏家收藏。
現居北京,職業藝術家。
Introduction to YANG QUN
Qun Yang was born on November 1958. He graduated from Normal University of An Hui with a major in printmaking in 1982 and taught in the Art Department of Teacher’s College of Fu Yang in 1985. In 1989, he entered the China Central Academy of Fine Arts for further studies. He has participated in various competitions and exhibitions in the past few decades.

Yang’s art is infused with "Chineseness" both embraced with traditional atmosphere and modern trends. He was introduced as early as the 80s by 'Chinese Art’ newspaper, “Arts” magazine and “Jiang Su Visual Arts”. He is included in “The Yearbook of Chinese Art 1949-2014”
His works have been collected by the American Rockefeller Family, Quantum Funds, France’s Nimes Museum of Contemporary Art, Nimes’ Metropolitan Secretary General, the state senator of Brisbane, Australia and the minister of Singapore’s government. As a professional artist, Yang currently lives in Beijing.
