【關于展覽】
前言
李一凡是進入2000年以后中國當代藝術轉型中的重要藝術家,不管關于藝術要本體還是要介入社會的爭論如何地一輪又一輪,但藝術與社會的更廣泛的聯系以及藝術自身就是社會物的痕跡的事實總是千真萬確的,但那些以藝術本體論捍衛者自居的爭論也最多是一種藝術理論中的多余話題或者制造刺激藝術社會化朝向更有理論張力的方向發展的知識現場而已。
Li Yifan has been an important artist in the transition of Chinese contemporary art since the turn of the new century. No matter the turns in the endless debates between ontology and social intervention, the broad links between art and society, and art's properties as the traces of society, are beyond question. The arguments of those who defend artistic ontology are merely providing superfluous art theory material or producing a knowledge scene to stimulate art to move in a direction with more theoretical tension in its trend towards socialization.
李一凡最早進入我的展覽是在2002年的香港藝術公社的“傳媒城市”展覽項目,那時他們以“胖兄弟”為小組對三峽動遷工程的拍攝,展覽取了這個拍攝中最初的一個片斷,并且以最真實的影像呈現到觀眾面前,引發在對這個工程中某些點上的思考,繼后李一凡的“胖兄弟”小組完成了《湮沒》記錄片,并在西方重要記錄片評選中得了多項記錄片大獎,而后李一凡這種對社會變遷與城鄉問題考察的記錄片一直在朝深處發展。《鄉村檔案》又是他的一個持續的拍攝項目,這個項目從三峽的國家工程討論到具體農村的組織方式和自主性與國家機器之間錯綜復雜的關系在特定的鄉村中的狀況,并使其紀錄片獲得了極其田野調查式的價值。
Li Yifan was first featured in one of my exhibitions in the 2002 MediaCity project at Artists Commune in Hong Kong. At that time, he was working in the “Fat Brothers” team on filming the Three Gorges Dam relocation project. The exhibition utilized some of the first footage from this project and presented it to the audience in the most truthful cinematic manner in order to elicit certain ideas about this project. Soon after, the Fat Brothers finished the documentary Before the Flood, which won many awards from major documentary film events in the West. Since then, Li Yifan has carried out observation and documentation of social change and urban-rural issues with ever-increasing depth. Village Archive is another of Li Yifan’s long term filming projects. The project looks at the complex relationships between specific organizational methods of villages, their autonomy and the mechanisms of the state within specific rural circumstances through the lens of the national Three Gorges project, and gives his documentary film particular value as field study.
2017年在深圳圈子藝術中心,李一凡個展的展題為“其他人”,這個展覽的重要性是李一凡繼續以他的特有的發現,集中到電動車這樣一個物體上對深圳那些城中村的人的生活狀況進行追蹤和反思,然后將深圳的打工族的背景、深圳租房與人口流動、深圳公共空間和公共設施中所反映出來的深圳人的階層狀況,編織成整體性的作品。這個展覽作品用李一凡命名的“其他人”嵌入和連接其中,用以呈現出李一凡的觀點:這“其他人”,就是每個都是被忽視的人群,他們就在深圳這個地方。
Li Yifan's 2017 solo exhibition at the Quanzi Art Center in Shenzhen is titled Others. The importance of this exhibition lies in the continuation of Li Yifan's unique discoveries, which here focus on the investigation and reflection on the effect of such objects as the electric bicycle on life in Shenzhen. This investigation weaves the various facets of class in Shenzhen, as reflected through the background of its worker class, apartment renters, itinerant populations, public spaces and public facilities, into a complete artwork. The theme of Others is embedded throughout the exhibited artwork in a presentation of the artist’s viewpoint, that “others” are the many overlooked groups that make up the city of Shenzhen.

王南溟,上海獨立策展人、藝術家,同時被稱為中國當下藝術批評界最具批判力的批評家,從“前衛藝術”、“后前衛藝術”到“更前衛藝術”(Metavant-garde)的闡釋者和推動者。已出版的批評文集有:《理解現代書法:書法向現代和前衛的藝術轉型》(江蘇教育出版社,1994年),《藝術必須死亡:從中國畫到現代水墨畫》,(上海書畫出版社,2006年),《觀念之后:藝術與批評》,(湖南美術出版社,2006年),《批評性藝術的興起:中國問題情境與自由社會理論》(古橋出版社,2011年),《現代藝術與前衛:克萊門特-格林伯格批評理論的接口》(上海大學出版社,2012年),《藝術制度與法律:中國與國際交往的結果》(古橋出版社,2012年),《后殖民榮譽:藝術的中國性與藝術家的中國身份》(古橋出版社,2012年)和《書法的障礙:新古典主義書法、流行書風及現代書法等問題》(上海大學出版社,2014年)。主要作品有《字球組合》、《拓印干旱》、《太湖水》等,作品被大英博物館、梁潔華基金會、中國美術館等收藏。
Wang Nanming, Independent curator and artist in Shanghai, he is regarded as one of the top critics of China’s contemporary art. He is the elucidator and promoter of the Avant-garde, post-avant-garde and Metavant-garde. Wang Nanming has authored several books includingUnderstanding Modern Calligraphy: Artistic Transformation of Modern and Avant-garde (Jiangsu Education Press, 1994); Art Must Die: from Chinese Painting to Modern Ink Painting (Shanghai Fine Arts Publishing House, 2006); After Concept: Art and Criticism (Hunan Fine Arts Publishing House, 2006); The Rise of Critical Art: Chinese Problem Situations and Theories of Liberal Society (AlteBrückeVerlag, 2011); Modern Art and Avant-garde: Interface of Clement Greenberg’s Critical Theory (Shanghai University Publishing House, 2012); Art, System and Legislation: China's International Exchange (AlteBrückeVerlag, 2012); and A Post-colonial Honour: the Chinese-ness of Art and the Chinese identity of Artists (AlteBrückeVerlag, 2012) and Obstacles of Calligraphy: Neo-classical Calligraphy, Popular Calligraphic Style, Modern Calligraphy and other Issues (Shanghai University Publishing House, 2014). His major works include Calligraphy Balls, Tayin Drought and Tahui Lake, which were collected by The British Museum, Annie Wong Art Foundation and National Art Museum of China.
